Who doesn’t love public holidays? With Singapore’s 51st
birthday just round the corner and another official public holiday to spend, it’s
no wonder everyone is starting to put on their thinking cap on how to best
spend this national day and of course the long weekend (oh, did we mention that
National Day falls on a Tuesday? You get the hint. Don’t say we bo jio)!
Zap Delivery presents you with a plethora of activities you can do on our
sunny island during the weekend leading to National Day!
1. 1Watch
the RSAF Black Knights aerial display at Marina Bay1
If there’s one thing we like about National Day celebrations other than the
must-watch national parade every year, it has to be the fact that we can catch
dazzling aerial displays by our very own RSAF Black Knights right on our home
land!
For those who don’t have tickets to the NDP but want to celebrate, you
can soak up the electric atmosphere and be a part of the nation’s birthday
celebrations by heading down to Marina South from Aug 7 to 9 to catch the
25-minute aerial performance by Singapore’s RSAF Black Knights. For an awesome
experience, we recommend complementing the outing with an outdoor picnic. Just
make sure you pick up the rubbish after you are done!

2. 1Watch the NDP fireworks for free or at a fee at these
places!1
If you are someone who simply love watching fireworks, you will want to
find a good spot to watch them this year. Watching the firework displays is also
made extra special this year as celebrations will be held at the Singapore
Sports Hub for the first time instead of the usual Marina Bay.
We have compiled a list of accessible
locations where you can gather and enjoy the night with your buddies and loved
ones!
Places you can
watch fireworks for free
• Kallang Wave Mall and Waterfront
• Kallang Riverside Park
• Nicoll Highway Park
• Tanjong Rhu Promenade
• Marina Promenade (along Republic Avenue, Merdeka Bridge)
• Marina Barrage
Places you can
watch fireworks for a fee
• Marina Bay Sands Observation Deck
• Singapore Flyer
• Conrad Centennial Singapore’s hotel rooms
• The Ritz-Carlton Millennia’s hotel rooms
• Parkroyal at Beach Road’s hotel rooms

3. 1Visit the National Museum to learn about the
contributions of our pioneer generation of leaders1
There’s a favourite saying that the best way to learn about a city’s rich
culture and history is by visiting museums! Our recommendation? Why not head
down to the National Museum of Singapore to reflect on Singapore’s history and
the contributions of our pioneer generation of leaders in the early
independence years this National Day weekend!
Singapore citizens, permanent residents and
visitors aged 6 years and below get to enter the museum for free!
National Museum of
Singapore

4. 1Revisit the past at Singapore’s legendary restaurants1
Remember the food you ate when you were younger?
National Day is a time of celebration of our
city’s charming food history, without which our celebrations wouldn’t be much
complete. Experience Singapore's rich food legacy by feeding yourself the finer
things and exploring the city’s legendary restaurants from yester years!
Our favourite picks include Prima Tower Revolving Restaurant (Beijing
cuisine), Red Star Restaurant
(Dim Sum), Mooi Chin
(Hainanese cuisine, authentic chicken rice and herbal mutton soup), The Ship (fried Chicken Maryland, Ship Steak
and Hainanese Pork Chop) and Gim
Tim (Famous for its Hokkien dish, Chin Beh Kueh), all of which have
been around for more than 30 years and made great places to bring the entire
family, especially your parents and grandparents!

5. 1Celebrate “Orchid Extravaganza” at Garden by the Bay1
How can we missed the chance to celebrate our 51st National
Day with our national flower? Apart from the “Orchid Extravaganza”, Gardens by the Bay is paying tribute to
Singapore’s 51st anniversary with a whole lot of other activities
this August!
Some of its National Day celebration highlights include Garden Rhapsody (spectacular light and sound show featuring favourite Singapore tunes
and local vocalists), the Singapore’s
51st Birthday Bash Fitness Party (non-stop dance treat and medley of top charting hits), GetActive! Singapore Carnival (shooting, bowling, sphere archery and
inflatable obstacle course), as well as music performances by the Singapore
Armed Forces Central Band and the Swiss Military Small Band on 7 August!
